How Much Time do you Have?
This is an awesome glimpse at the extremely short amount of time photographers sometimes have to make a picture. NYT photographer Stephen Crowley had about 30 seconds to photograph in the oval office during a "pool spray"

Tonight was the Tully Center for Free Speech Award ceremony and I had the ultimate privilege of not only attending the event, but the meet and greet and small dinner for the award recipients. I met terrific people and learned about the current situation in Zimbabwe. Thanks to the recommendation of my professor Jon Glass (thank you so much professor for the opportunity), I had the honor of creating a multimedia piece about one of the award winners, NYT reporter Barry Bearak, who was unable to attend the event. That alone was enlightening, a privilege, and a pleasure to produce his story. Working with Barbara Fought (Thank you Mrs. Fought for trusting me with such an important piece) and the rest of the Tully Center is also something I'm greatly thankful for. It was an outstanding experience and I'll cherish it forever. There isn't much that can wipe the smile off of my face right now. :-)
OH! and tomorrow... is my first day teaching photography at a local community college here in Syracuse. Talk about exciting!! And nerve racking! I can't WAIT to get back in the darkroom and inspire some young (younger than me) photographers. woo hoo!

Inauguration 2009
Well, today was an absolutely amazing day. To back up a little, my trip started Monday morning at 2:00 AM. I drove through the morning and arrived in DC at 9:00 AM. I took an hour nap, got lost on the metro, went to bed at 1:00 AM and woke up at 3:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2009 for the inauguration of our new president, Barack Obama. I stood outside until about 1:30 PM and the freezing cold. However, it was so worth it. Not photographically, but personally and historically.... okay photographically too. :-)
My lens is broken, so the quality of the images aren't the best that they should be. I have so many more images to post, but I just wanted to get one on here as soon as i could. SO, what's next on the agenda? Almost time to drive back to Syracuse, NY for class in the morning. Oh dear...

Hey Lady
Partying in the woods...legally
The weekend before school started, the weather was bad so I stayed in PA for another day. My parents were spending their Saturday in the woods at a large pig roast. They invited me along, however, I was unsure if i felt like standing outside in the middle of the forest during a snow storm when I had some work to catch up on... But I figured what the hey. Boy was I happy I went! We had a blast and all of the food was delicious. There was a huge fire (where I singed the fur on my coat and my eye lash) and tons of great company.

I need to pay more attention!
Alright, so out of plain old procrastination, I felt like "googling" myself to see how far I can go online and have work that is mine show up. Which is about 8 pages! Anyways, I just discovered that one of my images got 3rd place in a quarterly clip contest that I entered about a year and a half ago! haha. I forgot all about entering into the NPPA quarterly clip contests, I think i did it for only two quarters... Maybe I should more! All my photo grad buddies out there should enter too! www.collegefrontpage.com
Check it out! Next quarter entries are due March 1 to 15.

Momenta Workshops
So, I've been obsessing over the Momenta workshops for some time now and made up my mind. I'm going to Uganda in March. It's going to be super cool and all you photographers out there looking for a good workshop should check out what they have to offer. The folks in charge are amazing to talk to and are willing to help out in any way they can. The workshops are catered to the photographers and... I just can wait!! Check out their site here: www.momentaworkshops.com
Thanks Jamie and Chris!
Great Work
Ozzy
When something we love wasn't made perfect...
My parents' dog Ozzy takes seizures every once in a while and it's an incredibly emotional thing to experience. It's moments like these where I'd like to put the camera down, but when all you can do is watch you want something to describe how helpless the situation is. He's a great dog and he's part of the family.

Tijuana
While in San Diego, we decided to visit Mexico for the day.... and I fell in love. I will find a reason to go back there. I wish I had more time. I shot a ton in one day and these are my favorites. Yes, it can be edited down a lot more, but their mine and this is my blog so I went a little overboard. :-)
"don't tell dad"...
At this point in time, I was more worried about my sister killing me for wandering off than these two fine gentlemen.

2009!!!
I spent New Years Eve in Las Vegas, Nevada. We hit the strip for the countdown. It was certainly an experience that I'll never forget! I tried my hand at gambling on the penny machines, that didn't work out too well.
This is the pee security. Making sure everything goes smoothly in the long lines.
Lady in a fur coat getting hit on.
Probably the most anti climatic new year count down ever.... it was like.. yeeeaahh. and everyone walked away. The fireworks didn't go off right and it was just pretty bleh.

San Diego, California
Pheww!! Okay, so it's been a while since I posted anything onto my dear blog. Over a week ago, I randomly ended up flying to San Diego California with my sister Amy (thanks Amy and David!). It was an outstanding trip with many great memories.
Also, it was a really excellent way to bring in the new year. I always seem to do something interesting during winter break. Like last year, I snuck off to North Carolina and photographed Hillary Clinton and John McCain on their campaign trail... wow that was a year ago!
So, it's a new year, my last semester at Syracuse University is beginning, and I'm starting fresh with my life. I hope to go to Uganda in March with the Momenta workshops (www.momentaworkshops.com, check it out AMAZING! I love you guys!).... and then maybe... a job? hehehe.
Alright, the next couple of posts are going to be from my adventures on the west coast.
Enjoy!
